Ceramic (Clarity) Braces
At Smile Ranch, we understand the importance of a happy, healthy smile. From our youngest patients to our oldest, the goal is the same. How we reach that goal depends on the anatomy of your mouth, your orthodontic needs and, of course, your preferences.
For example, if in a consultation a patient decides to go the traditional route of braces but wants them to be more discreet, we might recommend Ceramic Braces.
What Are Ceramic Braces?
Ceramic Braces, in many ways, are similar to traditional metal braces, with one major exception: the brackets are clear or tooth colored for a more discreet smile. Even the wire can be tooth colored or clear for a time, but is eventually switched out for a thicker metal wire as treatment progresses. Treatment time depends on severity and can only be determined by your orthodontist. That being said, 12 to 24 months is average. Ceramic Braces are used mainly with older teenagers and adult patients who have cosmetic concerns.

What To Expect
While they are visually less prominent, they do require more attention to oral hygiene as ceramic braces are larger and are more brittle than their metal counterparts. For these reasons, ceramic braces tend to be used more on upper teeth than on lower teeth. Like all forms of orthodontic treatment, you will likely experience minor discomfort in the early stages of treatment as your teeth begin to move. Expect to make an appointment with us every 8 to 12 weeks for routine checkups.
