Ceramic (Clear) Braces
Straightening Your Smile More Discreetly
At Smile Ranch we understand the importance of a happy, healthy smile. From our youngest patients to our oldest, the goal is the same: making you happy with your smile. How we reach that goal depends on your preferences and needs.
If you want a straighter smile, ceramic braces are a great way to get a treatment as effective as traditional braces without the appearance of traditional braces.
What Are Ceramic Braces?
Ceramic Braces in many ways are similar to traditional metal braces, with one major exception: the brackets are clear or tooth-colored for a more discreet smile. Even the wire can be tooth-colored or clear for some time during treatment. Ceramic braces provide all the benefits of traditional braces and can be used to treat:
- Crowded teeth
- Spaces in teeth
Advantages of Ceramic Braces
Ceramic braces are often only used the upper teeth, providing all the advantages of a white or clear bracket. Ceramic braces are:
- Discreet. Because the ceramic brackets match the color of your teeth, they are much less visible compared to traditional braces.
- Precision Cut. The brackets are cut and fitted to your teeth to make sure they don’t feel bulky or clunky even if they are slightly bigger than traditional metal brackets.
- Gentler on Gums. The ceramic brackets are less likely to irritate your gums because they aren’t made of metal.
Treatment times may be similar to that of traditional braces, and the orthodontists at Smile Ranch can give you a general estimate of your treatment time at your free consultation.
What To Expect With Ceramic Braces
If you plan on choosing ceramic braces, it’s very important to take care of your teeth. Because of the nature of ceramic braces, they are more likely to stain and discolor your teeth.
Like all forms of orthodontic treatment, you will likely experience minor discomfort in the early stages of treatment as your teeth begin to move. However, it often goes away within a few days of adjustment and can be alleviated with over-the-counter pain medication, such as ibuprofen or aspirin. You can also expect to make an appointment with us every 8 to 12 weeks for routine checkups!
